“The work is great and extensive, and we are separated far from one another on the wall. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.” (Nehemiah 4:19-20)
The Lord opened the door for us to have another public worship and prayer gathering again this month!
This will be our third public worship and prayer gathering this summer.
Both in June and July people from different churches across the Cape gathered on a Sunday afternoon for a time of worship and prayer, once at the Wellfleet Town Pier and once at the Chatham Commmunity Center Green. We gathered together from different denominations, theological backgrounds, ethnic groups, and generations. The presence of the Lord was palpable, and we could feel the pleasure of the Lord ov er us gathering before Him as one body and one family.
Earlier in May, the GOGCC team was stirred to take our monthly multi-church prayer meetings to the public square for the next few months. We began to approach different towns to obtain permits to hold such meetings.
This coming gathering will include a time of worship, pastors and leaders leading in prayer from Scriptures, and a time of small group prayer.
Mark your calendar, plan to join us, spread the word and invite your friends!

The rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem in the book of Nehemiah is a picture of revival. The context of the above verses, is that the people of God were facing opposition to their building efforts. Their enemies were resisting them. In response to such opposition, Nehemiah called on God's people to come together and not be fragmented, separated far from one another, but to come together to face the enemy, to build and watch (pray) together. This was echoing his first call to the people of God in Nehemiah 2:17: “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem (together), that we may no longer be a reproach.”
Likewise, we face spiritual warfare. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6).
The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8), spreads darkness and blinds the minds of those around us, seeks to confuse the generation of our kids and grandkids, desires to ensare them and leads them astray: "Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them." (2 Cor 4:4).
The Lord is calling us to come together as one body and one family, and not be separated far from one another, to resist the enemy together, to stand in the gap for Cape Cod together, and to fight for our kids and grandkids together. As we do, we shine the light of Christ, displace the darkness, and God fights for us!
The statement below summarizes why we gather together in unity as ONE BODY, and why we do all that we do:
We gather in response to the Lord's stirring us with His desire to show His glory in our midst, and the subsequent spiritual awakening/revival on Cape Cod, with multitudes coming to Christ.
By pursuing unity, consecration, and united prayer, we prepare ourselves for what God wants to do in our midst.
"Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool, what kind of a house you (plural) will build for Me, or where is the place of My rest?" (Acts 7:49)
"In whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you (plural) also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit."
