The Glory of God on Cape Cod: September 3, 2008 update

Today pastors and leaders from across the Cape and across denominational
lines, met again to pray for the vision that the Lord deposited in our
hearts, a vision of His Glory in our midst and the subsequent outbreak of
revival.

*"We have trespassed against our God , and have taken pagan wives from the
peoples of the land; yet now there is hope in Israel in spite of this. Now
therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these
wives....Arise, for this matter is your responsibility. We are also with
you. Be of good courage and do it." *Ezra 10:2-4

*"Now therefore, make confession to the Lord God of your fathers, and do His
will; separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the pagan
wives. Then all the assembly answered and said with a loud voice, Yes! as
you have said, so we must do. " *Ezra 10:11,12

*" Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written
for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come" *1 Cor 10:11

** Today we discussed the above passages from the book of Ezra. At that time
the people of God had departed from His ways, and were more influenced by
the culture around them than the Word and the precepts of God. They
transgressed against God's commandments and took pagan wives from the people
of the land. The Lord stirred Ezra and the leaders to confront the people in
boldness with their sin, and to call them to separate themselves again in
holiness unto the Lord, so that God would no longer turn His Face away from
them (Ezra 10:14). It was the responsibility of the leaders to lead the
people boldly in that direction.

Similarly, the Lord is calling all His pastors and leaders today, on the
Cape and elsewhere to boldly proclaim the all the truth in the Apostolic New
Testament gospel, and not a watered down Americanized version of it. We
must lead God's people to separate ourselves from sin; to boldly, with
tenderness and love, confront issues of addiction to entertainment, food,
pornography, and sexual immorality among us, just like Ezra and the
leaders did back then. Just as in Ezra's time, we must do so, in order to
see the glory of God in our midst!

*"Now, Lord, grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak
your Word..." *Acts 4:29
