The Glory of God on Cape Cod: Upcoming Changes, May 27, 2009 update

"For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns. The gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory...." Isaiah 62:1,2

"I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest, till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth" Isaiah 62:6,7

Today we discussed how God uses our prayers to birth His purposes. In the above scriptures from Isaiah, God revealed His heart and vision for Israel in verses 1 & 2. The way He was going to accomplish His purposes and vision, was by stirring His people to travail in prayer until He does what He said He would do, as set forth in verses 6,7.

Similarly, the Lord stirred us with His vision for the glory of God on Cape Cod. We must respond in fervent prayer, in a collective cry in the manner of Isaiah 62:6,7, until He accomplishes what He stirred our hearts with. Therefore, it is our responsibility as pastors and leaders to share this vision with the respective congregations, and ignite a zeal in our various congregations for the glory of God on Cape Cod.

As we spread this message to the various congregations, we give the Holy Spirit room to stir people across the Cape from various churches, to rise up with one voice in prayer, and a collective cry for His glory in our midst, and the subsequent outbreak of revival. Conversely,to the extent we limit this message to our bi-weekly Wednesday pastors and leaders meeting, and not spread it to our local congregations, we limit and perhaps hinder the very work that we are praying for.

In light of the above, we felt led to take the following steps:

1. In the near future, we will begin taking this meeting to the local churches that open their doors to host it. We will alternate between meeting here in Dennis as we have been on Wednesday mornings, and meeting at various local churches on Wednesday evenings. Those meetings held at the churches will be open to all believers on the Cape. They will have the same format as Wednesday morning. They will have brief sharing, worship and prayer. The churches that currently have regular Wednesday prayer meetings, will take that format for that particular time they are hosting. Other churches would merge their own prayer meetings with that particular one. Example: Pastor A has a weekly Wednesday prayer meeting. On a Wednesday that Pastor B is hosting our prayer meeting, Pastor A would take his Wednesday group and they all join in prayer at Pastor A's church. This way, every month we have a Cape-wide prayer meeting held at a different church.

2. Also in the near future,we will have a day long conference "The Glory of God on Cape Cod conference" with a morning, afternoon, and evening session, and a break for lunch and dinner. This conference will be to re-cast and re-impart the vision to the body of Christ on Cape Cod.
