Friends, I appreciate this reminder from the Apostle John: “And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for” (1 John 5:14-15 NLT). In John’s letter, he tells us to pray in the will of God for a fallen brother or sister in Christ. But his exhortation applies to our prayer efforts, as well. It is God’s will that many lost people would be saved through Jesus.

Isn’t it affirming to know that God hears our prayers when we pray according to His will? And what is God’s will for the lost? Peter reveals the heart of God, “He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent” (2 Peter 3:9). The Lord also expresses his heart to us in Ezekiel 18:23, “Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? Says the Sovereign Lord. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live.”

And so, we know that when we pray for revival—for the multitudes to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus—we are praying in line with the heartbeat of God. Does your heart beat in sync with God’s heart? Do you feel empathy for those thousands and millions who do not know Jesus? Do you mourn the increasing number of men and women who have walked away from following Jesus? I hope so. If your heart beats as His heart beats, then come unburden it as you pray to God to do the work that only He can do.

This meeting is for the church: young, old, rich, poor, different cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, denominational affiliations. Our uniting purpose is found in Jesus. He is our hope. He is the hope of the world. As we gather to pray, we gather in His name for the sake of His mission.

I look forward to praying with you on July 25th.

Gripped by Christ’s grace!
