A Medical Analogy of the Death and Resurrection of Christ
Do you know how snake antivenom is prepared? Snake antivenom is the life saving treatment given to people who have been bitten by a poisonous snake.
The way this life saving treatment is prepared is this; A horse (or another animal with a strong immune system) is injected with the the snake venom. The horse's immune system then struggles with the venom, produces antibodies in its blood to fight against it (an antidote), and overcomes it.
This antidote is then collected from the horse's blood, treated, and given to the patient who is dying from the snake's bite. The patient overcomes the fatal bite. Instead of dying, he lives, thanks to the antidote flowing in his blood, that he couldn't produce on his own.
Similarly, humanity was bitten by death as sin entered the world. Christ came, struggled with death (which we couldn't overcome), and overcame it with His resurruction (the antidote). He then injects us with this antidote (His resurrected life). As His very life flows in us by the Holy Spirit, we too, overcome sin and death, and are resurructed in Him!
"I have come so that they may have life.." John 10:10
