Invitation to the May GOGCC Prayer Meeting at South Chatham Community Church

by Colby Olson on May 2, 2015
Good Morning,

We need to stop praying the way we've always prayed and start believing that God can and does actually move mountains.

"Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them" (Mark 11:23).

We need a paradigm shift regarding prayer. We are going to see the Spirit of God fall upon Cape Cod and change lives through true repentance, confession, and genuine prayer.  Do we really pray? We may pray before meals and gather together to pray once a month at a prayer gathering, but I wonder how much time we actually spend in our prayer closet? What do we do when we are alone?

Sadly, when times get tough is when we find ourselves praying the most. Often those prayers are GIVE ME prayers as if God is our cosmic sugar daddy and will give us anything we want. When God doesn't come through like we think he should we get upset and think he doesn't care. Often instead of praying (listening then speaking) and reading Scripture we'll turn on the television, pop in our ear buds, text, or call and talk with another human for advice. We have lost our way. Our prayers are not effective.

What if we truly believe that God answers prayer and that lives can be radically transformed due to our perseverance in prayer? How would our commitment and devotion to Jesus and love for him and people shift? Has your journey with God truly impacted the lives of people? Stop praying convenient, comfortable, and safe prayers and start believing that our prayers are effective and powerful!

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).

I'd like to invite you to South Chatham Community Church on Wednesday, May 20th for the Glory of God on Cape Cod prayer gathering from 6:30-8:00 PM. Located at 2555 Main Street, South Chatham, MA 02659. NOTICE it's MAY 20.

Here is a song that we will be singing on the 20th called The King is Among Us. This is our prayer for the evening and the future months and years ahead on the Cape.
