Report on the August GOGCC Prayer in Truro

by Sheldon Clarkson on August 30, 2013

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Nearly 60 of God's people gathered at the Chapel on the Pond in North Truro on Wednesday evening to call upon God to manifest his glory through revival across Cape Cod. We sought God's face not more than 50 yards from where, on the night of November 18th, 1620, Mile Standish, William Bradford and a group of devout explorers spent their second evening on what would become American soil.  We don't know what the prayer of those godly people were that evening, but it must have certainly included a petition for the propagation of the gospel and expressions of gratitude for the guiding hand of providence in their lives.  I believe that all the churches associated with the Glory of God on Cape Cod are, in part, an answer to the prayers of our founding fathers that evening.  You see, our prayers have a shelf life, and we were reminded during our open mic time that our prayers rise like incense to God and then when they are answered in heaven, things happen here on earth.

Our meeting last evening was also an answer, in part, to Jesus' prayer on our behalf, found in John 17:20-26.  Jesus offered this petition to the Father nearly 2,000 years ago for people that would embrace him as Lord and Savior in the future, asking the Father that we, individuals and churches praying for revival, be one with the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and each other.  We manifested that oneness Wednesday evening, and we will manifest that oneness, in answer to our Lord's prayer, on Sunday, September 29th when the GOGCC churches join as one body on the Village Green of Hyannis between 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m. to worship God.  As we do this, the world will know that Jesus was sent by God, and that the love He showed us is the love that we share with each other.

The next GOGCC monthly prayer meeting will be at Living Hope Family Church in Hyannis.  See their website for directions at
