Report on the January GOGCC Corporate Prayer Meeting at New Life Christian Center

by Stephen Russell on January 24, 2013

 Dear Church -

On behalf of New Life's leadership we want to thank all who participated in last night's prayer meeting at New Life.

We were honored to have had the Dennis Police department represented at the meeting. At was an answer to prayer for us and we believe an indication of God's desire for His Body here on the Cape as well as the civil authorities, to mutually recognize each other's sphere of influence and authority. As Pastor Myron Heckman (Brewster Bible Alliance Church) explained, the civil authorities have the responsibility to protect for the good of man whilst the Church in turn is to reach into our communities to bring transformation through the love of God demonstrated through His people, as per the example of the video clip that we saw about Hope City.

Lt DeMatteo and Officer Carr laid out the intense and stressful job they have at present and the reason behind the escalating crime in our area, which to us is simply underlying the task at hand - to displace the darkness with God's Kingdom of love, hope and joy. It was a privilege to see so many pastors from the Cape gather around the police to pray over them, their task at hand and their families.

The report from the police once again highlighted the need for intense prayer for the Church to arise to the mandate given by Jesus Christ, which is to be His witnesses. The need for outreach and evangelism has never been more pressing than at this time.

As you heard last night, our area faces huge challenges with the specifics of our local demographics. We want to thank you for your support (in spite of the cold!) to stand and pray with us for transformation in our area to the glory of God.

The next meeting will be held at Pocasset Baptist Church (Pastor Ed de la Cour) on Wednesday, 27 February at 6:30 pm. Directions are on their website www.pocassetbaptist.org.

Warmest blessings,
Stephen and Dalene Russell
