“The Holy Spirit testifies in every city…” (Acts 20:23)

In Acts 20:16, Paul said that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city that difficulties awaited him in Jerusalem. What that means is that whenever He traveled to minister from one city to another, the believers in every city he went to, had a sense from the Lord in their hearts by the Holy Spirit, that he will face difficulties in Jerusalem.

The Scriptures teach about the witness of the Holy Spirit to our spirits: “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit..”
(Romans 8:16).

Even as we are stirred to pursue unity in the body of Christ here on Cape Cod across denominations, ethnic groups and generations, many believers across the USA and beyond, also share the same witness of the Holy Spirit, that the Lord is stirring His body to pursue unity; That all born again believers are one body and one family.

This video above is a rich panel discussion about that subject between leaders from different streams in the body of Christ: Francis Chan of Crazy Love Ministries and graduate of John McArthur's conservative Master's Seminary, Andy Byrd of YWAM (Youth with a Mission), Mike Bickle and Isaac Bennett of the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in KC.

It took place Sunday 7/4/2021 at the International House of Prayer in KC.

Some of what is in this video:

* How Francis Chan was initially jaded, had a negative opinion about certain streams of the body of Christ because of what he was taught in seminary and what he heard from others.

* How his experience interacting with believers from those streams of the body of Christ that he was initially against led him to
re-examine some of the things he was taught and some of the negative things he heard from others.

* How even as we decry “cancel culture” in the world that writes off people who hold certain political or social views, we at times practice “cancel culture” in the body of Christ, writing off brothers and sisters in Christ who may have secondary differences with us or who may do things differently than we do.

* How humility is a prerequisite to the pursuit of unity. The Spirit of Christ is the spirit of Phillipians 2:3 "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." The opposite of that is presumption and pride.

* Why did Francis Chan write the book “Crazy Love”.

* How our pursuit of unity should not be at the expense of compromising the truth declared in word of God.
