Infanticide Bill at Our State House

by Bruce Hanlon on November 27, 2020
Dear praying friends across Cape Cod,

I don't know about you, but I've been on a bit of a "news fast" for the past several weeks and it has truly been refreshing to my soul. Despite my enjoyment of all the new-found freedom in my mind and heart, I have been getting aware of what has been going on in our Massachusetts State House through the ministry of the Massachusetts Family Institute (https://www.mafamily.org/ma-senate-embraces-infanticide/)

I've been a pastor for over 20 years and I can tell you in all honesty.... not in my worst nightmares did I ever imagine we would be living in a society where the legislature would be extending its session (due, they said, to the urgency of potential Covid-related legislation) to enact a bill that would enshrine abortion in our state through all 9 months of pregnancy, would eliminate parental consent for minors, and more.

This is NOT a political issue, this is a biblical issue -- and one for which we must speak up. In a State that is supposedly so consumed with the rights of the disenfranchised and marginalized, the most helpless in our community are treated literally as trash to be disposed of.

213 years ago, out of a God-inspired passion to see the slave trade abolished, William Wilberforce finally saw his articles of aboilition pass the House of Commons and become enacted into law. Today, there is no doubt that our society has outdone itself in finding ways of enacting the worst inhumanity mankind could inflict on itself..... and they do it all in the name of "compassion" and individual "rights".

Make no mistake, our enemy is not the Massachusetts State legislature that passed this new "Infanticide Bill". No, our enemy is "not against flesh and blood" (Ephesians 6:12) but against the one Jesus Himself told us had come to "steal, kill and destroy" (John 10:10).

If just 5 legislators have a change of heart on this issue, the legislature would not be able to override a veto by the governor if he chooses to do it (which he has indicated an openness to). Of course this is all being done around the holiday hustle and bustle, but just yesterday I found out about a Catholic organization working to defeat this bill. While theologically I do not line up with many Roman Catholic religious doctrines, do believe it's an issue much bigger than any of our theological differences. This is an opportunity for all those who believe God's Word that says that every human life has been created in God's image to unite together against the degradation of our culture at its own hands.

If you're looking for a way to take action in addition to your prayers about the moral corruption and the blindness that our state leaders take pride in, here is a website you can look at and consider supporting their cause as I have.

They are planning to lay thousands of red roses at the State House on December 5th together with (hopefully) hundreds of in-person volunteers as a peaceful protest against this bill and in memory of all those lives taken in this satanic-driven effort to destroy life.

Whether you support it financially or not, please continue to pray for our state which is so eager to lead our nation down this destructive path. Also, consider forwarding this to as many people as you can. Our time is short to act on this one.
